Martin House Children Hospice, a charity that raises money for and provides family-led hospice care for young people and children, have launched a super raffle in partnership with the Rail Industry and Drax, with seven top prizes to be won, including cab rides on diesel locomotives on the National Rail Network.
The winner of the raffle will receive a round-trip cab ride from Knottingley to Drax to Immingham to Knottingley in the cab of a DB Cargo diesel locomotive on a day of their choice between Monday and Friday.
The winner will not only experience a ride in the cab, but they will also witness the trains’ discharging facility at Drax and the trains’ loading procedure at the Immingham HIT terminal.
The second-place winner will also receive a cab ride, this time on a GB Railfreight diesel locomotive, on a day of their choice between Mondays and Fridays. This trip will begin at the Port of Tyne and will run up the East Coast Main Line through York station on route to Drax power station.

Third Prize is another cab ride, this time on a Freightliner diesel locomotive, on a day of their choice between Mondays and Fridays. Details about the route this train will take will be disclosed to the winner of this prize.
Members need to be 18 and over to claim any of the top three prizes. They will need to have the physical ability to climb vertical steps from ground level to reach the cab of the locomotive.
While every effort will be made to ensure the winners of these prizes can travel on the date they have requested, the rail operating companies reserve the right to change the date due to resources and availability.
Fourth prize is a visit for two people to be given a tour of Toton TMD (Traction Maintenance Depot) in Nottinghamshire.
Guests will be able to attend on the day of their choosing between Mondays and Fridays, and will be shown how DB Cargo’s class 66 diesel fleet is maintained. This prize is only redeemable for those 18 and over, with participants needing to walk on ballast and up steep stairways.

Fifth prize gives the winner a one-hour session at GB Railfreight’s Rail Simulator in Peterborough. The winner will be able to hone their skills on a simulator that has trained many of GB Railfreight’s drivers now operating trains on the national network. The winner will be able to drive a virtual Class 66 in a mock-up cab at 75 mph through a vast array of weather conditions.
The sixth prize is a private tour of Drax Power Station, with lunch included, provided by the Drax Logistics team. Winners can attend on a date of their choice between Monday and Friday, and have to be over 16 to claim this prize.

The seventh-place winner will receive a sold-out Revolution N gauge limited edition model of Class 66 No.66301 in its 2024 GBRF / Drax golden livery.

Mark. Have tried numerous times to get on the site as recommended by your article but total failure. Lost all interest which only hits the charity’s great competition.
