Passengers are being reminded that from the 27th December until the 4th January, services will be altered in and out of London Waterloo while engineers work on upgrades near Queenstown Road.

Between Queenstown Road and Nine Elms Junction, engineers will be renewing track, crossings, switches and conductor rail.

Alterations will also be made to the platforms at Queenstown Road Station to fit the new track, with new ballast and sleepers installed.

As standard, there will be no services on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with no services calling at London Waterloo on the 27th and 28th December, where trains will terminate at Clapham Junction.

From the 29th to the 4th January, Queenstown Road Station will be closed, and Vauxhall Station will also be closed on the 27th-30th December and again on the 1st January.

Timetable reductions will be in place from the 29th December to the 4th January, which are available to view online.

Ticket acceptance will also be available on alternative routes; information on this can be found on Southwestern Railway’s website or on National Rail’s website.

“We are advising passengers to plan ahead and use alternative routes into the capital between Christmas and New Year. We are sorry for the disruption this closure between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction will cause however these works will provide a more reliable journey for everyone who travels on one of the country’s busiest railways .”

Speaking on behalf of Network Rail and South Western Railway, George Murrell, Route Renewals Director
