This weekend, passengers should be aware that journeys between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street will be affected and replaced by buses.

On both days this weekend, engineering works are being carried out to improve drainage at Banbury, replace track at Sudbury Hill station, and maintain track at Oxford, all to help ensure journeys remain reliable and safe.

The Chiltern main line will be closed across both days between Wembley Stadium and Denham. Services will also be affected between Bicester North and Leamington Spa on Sunday.

People planning to travel should check online before they travel.

“These essential railway upgrades and maintenance will help keep the Chiltern main line more reliable for years to come. This work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum while delivering the most future benefits for passengers and freight and I thank passengers for their patience.

“If you’re planning to travel, plan ahead and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”

Neil Gaskin, programme director for Network Rail’s Central route
