Lumo is advertising what it describes as “a number of exciting opportunities” to join its workforce, as the open-access train operator prepares to launch its new daily services between London Euston and Stirling in Scotland.
The operator, which is owned by FirstGroup plc, believes that the expansion of its services will offer more choice to passengers in both Scotland and England. Lumo will be running up to ten services per day on weekdays and Saturdays, and eight services on Sunday.
In order to operate this service, Lumo is recruiting Qualified Customer Drivers. It is looking to recruit drivers who are “passionate about creating a safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable experience for customers and colleagues”. The Customer Driver roles come with a salary of £71,529.

It is also seeking to recruit four talented Customer Experience Team Managers. These posts will be based in Preston in Lancashire, London Euston and Stirling.
The operator states that it wants to recruit people to the jobs “who have a strong sense of pride about creating an excellent experience for customers onboard, as Lumo revolutionises the railways”. The Customer Experience Team Manager roles have a salary of £49,472.
Lumo currently run services on the East Coast Main Line between Edinburgh, Newcastle and London. Its fleet consists entirely of electric trains. In December this year, it will extend its route to and from Glasgow. It has also submitted applications for several further expansions of its services over the coming years.
Lumo was recently awarded the Clear Assured Bronze Standard, in recognition of its commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

“We’re thrilled to launch this rare opportunity to join the wider Lumo team, as part of our brand new service connecting London Euston and Stirling. This is a chance to be part of an organisation that’s passionate about supporting the customers and communities we serve.
“We’re proud to champion inclusivity and encourage new talent to consider joining the industry. As of last year, 95% of our operational workforce had been part of our apprentice programme in partnership with Train’d Up. During the past three years, 29 women have completed the training compared to 27 men.”
