The December timetable changes across the Transport for Wales (TfW) network will not only see additional trains running in North Wales, but train services will also increase on the Heart of Wales Line.

The scenic 90-mile route from Swansea to Shrewsbury via Sugar Loaf and Llandrindod Wells will once again see five trains a day each way for the first time in over a year.

The extra trains will leave at around midday from both Swansea and Shrewsbury stations, in a move that TfW believes will improve connectivity, support and increase tourism and the local economies along the route.

The extra services will begin running after the national timetable changes on 14th December. TfW timetables can be viewed online or via the TfW app.

“Railway connections are vital in driving prosperity.

These changes will make a real difference to customers, who will benefit from more services across Wales and the Borders.

This has been made possible by our £800m investment in brand-new trains for the Wales and Borders network.”

Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates

Responses

  1. Are the new services to be formed of 2-car or more units and will any of them include an onboard refreshment service? Additionally, will the Heart of Wales Line line of route leaflets be available along with a pocket timetable? Without all these things the so-called improvements would appear to be no more than a rather poor, shallow window-dressing!
