Military personnel in Wales are being offered free travel on Transport for Wales (TfW) train services and TrawsCymru bus services during this year’s Remembrance period.
The offer is part of a national initiative to recognise serving and former members of the armed forces. The offer applies to eligible individuals travelling on Friday, 7th November, by Transport for Wales train services to and from Cardiff Central Station to attend the TfW Remembrance Service.
The free travel offer is also being extended throughout Wales on Remembrance Sunday, 9th November, and Armistice Day, Tuesday, 11th November 2025.
As well as free travel on Transport for Wales train services, on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, free travel will be available for serving personnel and veterans on all TrawsCymru bus services.
To take advantage of the free travel offer, serving members of the Armed Forces should be in uniform. Alternatively, the following forms of identification are acceptable for serving personnel who are not in uniform and veterans:
- A valid MOD90 identity card issued by the Ministry of Defence.
- A Veterans Railcard, Veterans Oyster card, or Veterans ID issued by the Ministry of Defence.
- Other documentation, such as proof of pension, confirming the individual’s status as a veteran.
In providing the offer of free travel, Transport for Wales reiterates its pride in again this year, honouring the sacrifices of those who have served our country.
For a number of years, the railway industry elsewhere in the UK has a record of providing free train travel for serving military personnel and veterans to Remembrance Services, an offer that is being repeated again this year.
