Dovetail Games has released its first Add-on for Santa Fe on Cajon Pass, allowing players to ‘climb aboard’ familiar traction in freight-hauling liveries with High Iron Simulations.
The Cajon Pass is in Southern California and runs between the San Bernardino Mountains to the east and the San Gabriel Mountains to the west.
In this Add-on for Train Sim World 6, Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe (ATSF) Railway trains will travel on the Cajon Pass route, known for its ruggedness. This recreates the services that ran in the early 1990s, the last years of Santa Fe operations.
While the standard route and schedule is set in the early 2000s and features BNSF livery, the trains in the Add-on are in ATSF colours, which are known for being lavish.

The Add-on uses a new group of three ATSF freight cars, as well as contemporary variations of existing equipment. They haul locals, switch in yards and run mainline manifests.
Large intermodals also operate across a new timetable, which is based on real Santa Fe schedules, as well as five new scenarios.
Locomotives and rolling stock included are:
- C40-8W in Warbonnet red-and-silver livery
- SD40-2 in AT&SF blue-and-yellow freight livery
- NEW Santa Fe two-bay cement-covered hopper
- NEW Santa Fe three-bay ribbed-side covered hopper
- NEW 86-foot auto parts boxcar
- plus existing freight stock in Santa Fe liveries.
Train Sim World 6: Santa Fe on Cajon Pass is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for $17.99/£14.99/€17.99. Santa Fe on Cajon Pass will be released on PC and 9th Gen Console platforms only.
Dovertail has also revealed that developer High Iron Simulations is working on a BNSF GP60M loco Add-on, as well are carrying out longer term development of its first route Add-on. This will result in additional gameplay to Cajon Pass and Scenarios to San Bernardino Line.

To use the gameplay in the Santa Fe Add-on, players will need the Cajon Pass route Add-on.
Players can operate the trains along 85 miles (136 km) of route between Barstow and San Bernardino, California. The route includes stunning scenery and difficult gradients for long freight trains.
The Cajon Pass Add-on features the ES44C4 diesel-electric locomotive as well as the BNSF variant of the SD40-2.
Cajon Pass was first introduced to Train Sim World in 2022. Two years ago, Dovetail Games issued an ATSF scenario pack.
