Transport for Wales has released information regarding changes to services from the 14th December.

The changes will improve community connections nd travel opportunities through increased services.

Some of these changes include a new hourly service between Wrexham and Chester, double the current hourly frequency, and a new midday train will also be introduced on the Heart of Wales line between Swansea and Shrewsbury.

Between Coryton and Penarth, a new hourly Sunday service will be introduced, and on Fridays, later trains will be introduced from Cardiff.

Broader changes will include additional stops in some areas, including between Cardiff and Holyhead, and numerous additional and new services across the network.

Also included in this will be the Machynlleth to Pwllheli evening services on the Cambrian Line, which are set to remain running.

A full list of the changes can be found online.

“Rail connectivity is absolutely vital in driving prosperity.

“These changes will make a real difference to customers, who will benefit from more services and greater connectivity across Wales and Borders network.

“This has been made possible by our £800m investment in brand-new trains for the Wales and Borders network.”
