Vintage Trains says that it is ‘proud’ to have driven the working replica of Locomotion No. 1 on its celebration trips on the mainline.
The trips took place between the 26th and 28th September, and also saw Vintage Trains operate a Royal Train for Prince Edward to view the event
Vintage Trains normally operates GWR locomotives on the mainline, but this was a special trip with the 1825 replica.
The train ran on the mainline whilst the line was closed to usual traffic.

Nick Edwards, Head of Operations for Vintage Trains said ‘I am very proud of Vintage Trains’ involvement in such a special event witnessed by a huge crowd; it really was a team effort working with colleagues from the project team, Network Rail and Darlington Borough council to make it happen and shows what the Railway can deliver by collaboration.’
