Network Rail is investing almost £1 million to install over 800 metres of new track.
On the 15th and 16th November, they will be installing the track at Mountsorrel, north of Leicester.
The new rail will be fitted alongside 1,232 new sleepers and 3,000 tonnes of ballast.
While the work will make trains smoother and more reliable, it will also mean no services between Nottingham and Leicester.
Buses will replace services over the weekend, with journey information available online or from the train operator.
“This important upgrade at Mountsorrel is part of our ongoing commitment to improving journeys for passengers across the East Midlands.
“By installing new track, we’re helping to deliver smoother, more reliable services for years to come. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and we appreciate passengers’ patience while we carry out this work.”

Ar last the magic costing figure that Network Rail declined to disclose to Parliament or Rail Reinstatement concerns.
The magic figure of £1m for 800 meters for track. So the “Holy Grail” figure is £1,250 per metre.
So all these old out of-use-lines can be costed and funds obtained.
