ScotRail is urging fans who will be attending the Scotland men’s football match against Belarus on Sunday (12 October) to travel to Hampden Park by train.
The national team is fresh from a dramatic 3-1 victory over Greece in their World Cup qualifying match last night (Thursday 9 October). Large and enthusiastic crowds are expected to attend the national stadium again when Scotland play Belarus at 17.00 on Sunday.
The nearest train station to Hampden Park stadium is Mount Florida, which is just a short, five-minute walk away. The operator is therefore encouraging football fans to take the train.
ScotRail has scheduled extra services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida both before kick-off and after the final whistle. It will be running longer trains in order to provide more seats on board.
The operator is pointing out to passengers that if they travel early and allow extra time to travel and get into the stadium, their journey will be smoother and they are more likely to arrive on time.
There will be queueing systems in operation at Glasgow Central station before the game and at Mount Florida station after the match has finished.

Football supporters attending the match can buy their return train tickets before they board, by using the ScotRail app, website, at a ticket office, or from a self-service ticket machine.
ScotRail is used to providing assistance and extra capacity to passengers travelling to Hampden Park, whether that is for sports fixtures or for concerts.

“After a great result against Greece, we’re excited to welcome fans travelling to Hampden Park for Scotland’s crucial World Cup Qualifier against Belarus on Sunday, 12 October.
“To help supporters get to the match smoothly, we’ll be running extra services and adding more seats to trains to and from Mount Florida station – which is just a short walk from the stadium.
“Travelling with ScotRail is a convenient, reliable, and sustainable way to get to the game, and to ensure an effortless experience, we’re encouraging fans to plan their journey, allow a bit of extra time for travel, and buy return tickets in advance.”
