This weekend, Network Rail will be carrying out upgrades on the North Downs line.

They will be replacing the track between Reading and Wokingham from the 25th to the 27th of October.

The work will help to increase the reliability of services along this section of the line; however, there will be travel alterations.

Buses will replace all services between Reading and Wokingham, which take around 15 minutes longer.

South Western Railway services will run between Wokingham and London Waterloo, and Great Western Railway services will run between Wokingham and Redhill or Gatwick Airport.

Further works are also planned for November in the Wokingham area.

Passengers are advised to check before they travel online.

“We’re investing in the railway’s future. While we know disruption is never welcome, this critical work will deliver real benefits for passengers in the long term. Services to Gatwick Airport remain uninterrupted, and our replacement bus service ensures connectivity throughout the closure period.”

Andy Gallaugher, GWR Station Manager for the North Downs line
