Transport for London has chosen six new poems for its latest series of Poems on the Underground.

Each poem has an autumnal theme and for the next four weeks can be on underground and overground services.

The poems also have an international theme, with some from Africa and New Zealand.

Poems included are:

  • Sheenagh Pugh’s Days of November 2009 – reflecting on the growing urgency to complete tasks
  • Janet Frame’s I Take into My Arms More Than I Can Bear To Hold – reflects on modern life and its demands
  • Katalin Szlukovényi’s Overcrowding – reflects on the pressures of interconnected lives
  • Lucille Clifton’s Won’t you celebrate with me – specially chosen to celebrate Black History Month
  • W.H. Auden’s An Epitaph for a Tyrant – reflects on Remembrance Day
  • Jack Underwood’s William at four days old – reflects on his first moments with his son and the emotions felt

The poems can be viewed online, should passengers not find all of them.

“The new set of autumn Poems on the Underground is now live across the Tube and London Overground network, and contains poems from incredibly talented poets, which reflect the beautiful colours and feelings of the autumn seasons. We hope our customers enjoy them whilst travelling on the network.”
