Ahead of the festive period, Greater Anglia passengers are being reminded to check before they travel.

There will be works ongoing in the Cambridge area, and London Liverpool Street will be closed from the 25th December to the 1st January.

Timings of trains will be altered and some will finish earlier, which will continue until the 5th January.

Network Rail will be replacing the roof panels at London Liverpool Street while it is closed for eight days, and working in the Bishopsgate Tunnel to carry out maintenance.

Numerous services will begin/terminate at Stratford, with connections available via the underground.

Those with tickets to London Liverpool Street will be accepted on underground services on the Central Line and Elizabeth Line between Tottenham Hale and King’s Cross St. Pancras.

Passengers will also be accepted on the Circle, Hammersmith & City Line, and Metropolitan Lines between King’s Cross St. Pancras and London Liverpool Street

Network Rail will also be working on upgrading signalling systems in Cambridge, which will allow for the opening of Cambridge South Station next year.

Services on Christmas Eve will finish around 10 pm, with service information available online.

“While most of our services will be running over the festive period, so that people can continue to travel across East Anglia and beyond, engineering work is taking place and will affect passengers travelling on both main lines to and from London and in the Cambridge area.

“Since the railway tends to be much quieter over this period, Network Rail uses it to carry out essential upgrade work that will help Greater Anglia to continue operating a very punctual and reliable service for customers in 2026.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the service alterations, and we urge passengers to check before they travel as some journeys may take longer than normal.”

Martin Beable, Managing Director, Greater Anglia
