London railway level crossing closure means changes for road and rail users

From the 25th October, Network Rail will be carrying out urgent work until the 29th October.

This will result in service alterations due to a closure between Clapham Junction, Willesden and Watford Junction.

Engineers will be working to renew Mitre Bridge level crossing, replacing track, sleepers, equipment and drainage systems.

The crossing will be closed for motorists from 1:40 am on the 25th until 5:15 am on the 29th.

The work will ensure the safety of tis section of the line and means there is no need for a speed restriction, helping to keep future journeys on time.

As the section of line will be affected, engineers will be renewing power cabled between Clapham Junction and West Brompton.

Kensington Olympia will also have a set of points upgrades during the closure.

Passengers are advised to check their journeys online.

“I’d like to thank passengers, freight customers and local businesses in advance for their patience while we carry out this important work to keep Mitre Bridge level crossing safe and reliable for years to come.

“To complete our work safely, we need to close the railway for four days between 25 and 28 October. We’re asking London Overground and Southern passengers to plan their journeys in advance and check before travelling.”
