An 00 Gauge model of Class 47/4 No. 47521 in Network SouthEast livery is being released by Kernow Model Rail Centre (KMRC).

The model, produced by Bachmann exclusively for the Kernow Model Rail Centre, is to Bachmann’s latest upgraded specification with a diecast chassis block housing a five-pole, twin-shaft motor with two flywheels providing drive to all axles.

All models will have a pre-installed Bach-Up Stay Alive System, but it will only work on DCC. The SOUND FITTED DELUXE version has auto-release couplings at both ends, and rotating radiator fans driven by an independent motor and gearbox.

Metal detail parts fitted to the body include grab handles, windscreen wipers, etched fan grilles, sprung metal buffers, and snow ploughs. A full set of decorated bufferbeam pipework and accessory parts is supplied with each model.

Exclusive to the KMRC model is the model’s branding in Network SouthEast livery, a flush headcode panel at the number 1 end, and sealed beam headcode panels at the number 2 end, twin buffer beam brackets as fitted to Crewe-built machines, and cab front-mounted ETH equipment.

It also comes with single-arm windscreen wipers, round buffers, full cab roof vents, NRN cab aerials, Serck radiator grilles, ribbed exhaust panels, blank plate boiler roof, 1,200-gallon fuel tanks, plated bogie-mounted cab steps and a slow-speed speedo drive.

DCC Ready (£214.99), DCC SOUND FITTED (£319.99), and DCC SOUND FITTED DELUXE (£354.99) versions can now be pre-ordered, with delivery expected in May 2026.

Built at Crewe in 1964, it was originally numbered D1104 and allocated to Old Oak Common, and renumbered under TOPS to 47521 in February 1974. In July 1989, it was re-liveried in Network Southeast livery, operating services between Waterloo and Exeter, Paddington and Paignton, and Paddington and Oxford. It was transferred to Rail Express Systems in mid-1993 and withdrawn from service in 1995.

In recent months, Kernow Model Rail Centre has announced exclusive OO gauge models of a Class 31 locomotive and 4-VEP EMU 3417 Gordon Pettitt.

“47 521 was a regular performer on Network SouthEast Western Region services, so was an easy choice for our next KMRC Exclusive Class 47 based on the further upgraded new tooling, high specification Bachmann model.”

Chris Trerise, Kernow Model Rail Centre Managing Director
