From the 2nd to the 5th of October, Great Central Railway held its Autumn Steam Gala.
Featuring eight fantastic locomotives, including three guests, the gala was a huge success, even if the weather was a bit of a letdown.
The visiting locomotives included LMS Mogul 13268, Jubilee class 45596 Bahamas, and Coal Tank 1054, which joined the home fleet in an intensive timetable over the four days.

Crowds lined up to enjoy the locomotives in action.
For those who missed this gala and want to see 45596 Bahamas and LMS Mogul 13268 in action on the line, they can do so on the 11th and 12th of October.
Bahamas is due for an overhaul, so this will be the last time it will haul a passenger service before withdrawal.

“Heritage railways are always at the mercy of the weather, but this weekend has shown just how resilient our team and our visitors are. The sight and sound of eight steam locomotives at work and passing on our unique double-track main line railway was really something very special, and we’re delighted so many people came to enjoy it.”
Malcolm Holmes, General Manager of the Great Central Railway
