During October half term, Greater Anglia and the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership (CRP) are offering two specially themed trains.
On the 28th October, there will be a dinosaur-themed train, and on the 31st October, there will be a Halloween Train.
The dinosaur train will be supporting Braintree Museum’s Big Dino Day, where passengers can get on from Witham to Braintree at 10:34 am.
Children will receive a special goodie bag and meet a friendly dinosaur who will take them on a walk to the museum, where they can enter for half price.
The Halloween train will be a spooky train running from Manningtree to Harwich Town, departing at 4 pm and returning at 4:48 pm.
There will be a decorated carriage, and children will receive a themed goodie bag.
A costume competition will also take place, with bonus points given for homemade costumes which use recycled material.
To book onto these themed trains, you can do so via this website.
“Train journeys are a fantastic way for families to spend time together – they’re relaxing, fun, and children absolutely love them. These special half term events are all about making rail travel a joyful and memorable experience. It’s a great-value option for keeping the kids entertained during the school holidays.”
Jane Stewart, Essex and South Suffolk CRP officer
