The new railway bridge at Bowling is making good progress, as the structure is now taking shape.
The bridge is at the former Exxon site and is costing £5.9 million to build.
It is part of the Glasgow City Region Deal, which aims to support transport links, sustainable development, and improve economic growth.
This bridge will enable development opportunities for the Bowling Strategic Development Site while opening road access.
The structure is now fully cast, following work beginning in the summer, and has around 1,860 tonnes of concrete in place.
The bridge’s progress is on track to be moved into position over Christmas, which will cause some service disruptions.
Passengers should check before they travel online over the festive period.
“Watching the bridge take shape on site is a proud moment for everyone involved. This is a substantial structure, and the level of work put in to reach this stage has been immense. From clearing tens of thousands of tonnes of earth, to installing the steelwork and pouring hundreds of tonnes of concrete.
“The next phase over Christmas will be one of the most exciting parts of the project. Moving a structure of this size into its final position is no small task, and we’ve been working closely with our contractor, Story, to make sure every detail is covered. It’s a big challenge, but one we’ll be ready for.”
