The cycle compound at Bishops Stortford station has had some security upgrades carried out by Greater Anglia.
On the 20th and 21st of September, work was carried out to install new fencing and other anti-climb measures across the area.
The work also saw the turstile removed, with its previous location, bricked over, and extra fencing installed.
Instead, people can enter via the access-controlled gates.
Even though there are now different measures in place, staff will still be carrying out checks, and the area is completely covered by CCTV cameras.
Greater Anglia still advises that a good quality lock is used to help ensure that bikes remain secure.
“We take cycle security very seriously, and we want to make sure cyclists are able to leave their bikes at the station safely while they travel.
“These improvements will not only provide greater security for cyclists, but they will help to encourage more people to travel more sustainably by bike and public transport to help reduce congestion on the roads and the quality of the air we breathe.”
Mark Usher, Head of Facilities Management, Greater Anglia

It’s sad that places like this now have to look like a prison to secure them.
Very sad Chris, what a state our country has gotten into.
