To help passengers plan their Christmas travel arrangements, Avanti West Coast has announced the release of best-value fares for travel during the festive period.
All types of tickets for travel during Christmas and the New Year until the 2nd of January are now on sale, and during this period, there will be no peak-time restrictions, ensuring even better value, with typical single fare tickets to Birmingham £16, Liverpool £26, Manchester £35, Preston £35, and Glasgow £42.
Passengers intending to travel during the Festive period should note that Avanti West Coast services will finish earlier than normal on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and start later than normal on 27th December and New Year’s Day.
Some services will be disrupted due to major engineering work between Christmas Day and 14th January, with the following services affected:
- Between Saturday, 27th December and Sunday, 4th January, and on Sunday, 11th January, there will be no services on the West Coast Main Line between Rugby and Milton Keynes.
- From Thursday, 1st, until Sunday, 14th January, a rail replacement bus service will operate between Wigan North Western, Preston and Carlisle.
- From Thursday, 1st, until Tuesday, 6th January, trains to/from Glasgow/Edinburgh and Carlisle will terminate at Lockerbie, with rail replacement bus services running between Lockerbie and Carlisle.
