MaxTracks is currently working on creating The Airedale Line for Train Sim Classic, and RailAdvent have spoken with Max to see what the line will look like when complete.

Max has been developing content for more than 6 years, working on the Leeds Lines route from Leeds to Doncaster, and later helped Alan Thomson Sim create the Chat Moss route.

Max later brought the Mark 5 coaches to the sim, which was the first to be released under the MaxTracks brand.

Since that release, Max has been working with friends to create the Airedale and Wharfedale Lines for Train Simulator Classic.

The Airedale Line is around 26 miles in length from Leeds to Skipton, whilst the Wharfedale Line goes to Ilkley.

The lines to Bradford Forster Square, as well as the line from Skipton to the Rylstone / Swinden Quarry, will also be included.

With everything included, the route will be around 45 miles in length!

Max says that the key appeal of the route is that there is something for everyone.

There are InterCity runs with Azumas and Intercity 225s, or the 333s and EMUs that provide the backbone of services, or how about the 158s doing longer distance paths.

For freight, there are 66s and 60s that head up to the quarry, and then there is the number of steam railtours and other heritage traction.

Max goes on to say that whilst Train Sim World is very popular, they have decided to make the route for Train Sim Classic due to their experience in the tools and software needed, but also players have a large collection of DLC and addons.

Max says, “We decided to make this a TSC route; not only are we all very experienced with the engine and development tools, but also many players have a large collection of addons and DLC that they’ve invested in and grown for years. That doesn’t just disappear even when there’s a shiny new sim, so we reckon there’s still very much an interest in new TSC content.”

The route will be a payware product and is still in development, so there is currently no exact release date.

The route will be available through Alan Thomson Sim (who provides RailAdvent Plus Gold members with a discount).

The Class 333 EMU will be bundled with the route and will be in a non-driveable form for AI services, and a playable version will follow separately for a standalone product.

Max finished by saying “I always wanted to see the Airedale line in Train Simulator, but the issue has always been lack of rolling stock. Without a Class 333 (the unit that forms the backbone of electric services out of Leeds) there would be no point making the route, and without the route there was no point making the unit. So the only way it could happen was if we made both!”
