As part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade, engineers have been carrying out a series of weekend works to carry out railway upgrades between Manchester, Huddersfield and Leeds.
On the 17th August, the work was completed, having seen major structural work to bridges across West Yorkshire.
The A62 Leeds Road bridge was reconstructed to allow further upgrades to Deighton, including overhead powerlines and extra tracks.
A new bridge deck was also installed at Station Road bridge in Mirfield, where a 450-foot crane was brought in to replace the beams and strengthen the bridge.
Track renewal work was also carried out between Stalybridge, Huddersfield and Dewsbury to allow for more reliable journeys.

Passengers are still reminded that from 30th August, Huddersfield station will be closed for 30 days, and Deighton will be closed until 2027.
“We’re pleased to have successfully completed our latest phase of upgrades safely and on time. The work spanned seven weekends and involved some complex challenges, but our teams worked around the clock and have taken us one step closer to delivering a faster, greener, more reliable railway across the Pennines.
“It’s an exciting period for TRU as the scale of engineering work across the route really ramps up.”
Andrew Campbell, TRU sponsor
