The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has announced that they have replaced steam with diesel once again due to the Langdale Moor wildfire.
The fire isn’t near the railway but is within the North York Moors National Park, and the railway says that they want to avoid additional pressure on the fire service.
Diesel locomotives will now operate instead of steam, running on the advertised timetable, so a journey through the Moors can still be enjoyed.
An NYMR spokesperson said We have taken this decision to avoid putting additional pressure on the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Our thoughts are with all those working hard to fight the fire, and keep us all safe.

I never thought I would wish for rain, Steam Gala coming up soon, The gala would have been a return visit after No steam in early April for the same reason, Such a shame for NYMR
A wise and sensible move by a responsible railway. Plenty of time to enjoy steam after the rains come. In the meantime enjoy what is on offer. Well done NYMR.
NYMR is becoming Diesel only railway.
LOL What with all the Rain coming
Oh noooo. I’m going Scarborough tomorrow on the charter ☹️☹️
