University Hospital of North Tees patients have been reminiscing as part of a large art project to celebrate 200 years of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.
The project has seen patients reminisce about a train journey or a life story to create part of an exhibition.
Thousands of stories will be represented from members of the community, including 28 patients from wards 40 and 42 (elderly care) at the hospital.
The patients have decorated a peg doll to represent a journey, which will go on display at Preston Parl Museum from 13th September to 12th October.
“The patients have had quality time to chat and share their very interesting experiences, making them feel as though they belong in the community, despite being on a hospital ward.
“I felt very privileged and humbled to work so closely with the patients evoking their memories. We had laughter and tears but it was an absolute joy to see the little people take shape all with such a different story to tell. The interaction was amazing between the patients as they worked. It was a very rewarding experience for everyone involved.”
