Customers using Transport for Wales can now benefit from a limited-time offer to access travel for just £1 using Pay As You Go.
From today (19 August) until the 28th August, those using Pay As You Go stations across South Wales will be able to access the exclusive offer. The offer also continues through weekends and bank holidays.
There are 95 stations that are Pay As You Go enabled, including all Valleys lines and routes heading to stations such as Abergavenny and Bridge End.
They began the rollout of Pay As You Go from February last year.
Transport for Wales is the only operator outside of London to implement Pay As You Go on its stations, and this particular promotion makes this method the cheapest way to travel on services.
Passengers can see a £3.20 discount on single fares when using this method.
“Many customers across Southeast Wales are already benefiting from the fastest, easiest and cheapest fares through TfW’s Pay As You Go (PAYG) service. This limited time £1 fare provides a great opportunity for those passengers not using the service to give it a go, with many journeys on new trains as a result of our £800m investment.
“And of course with the introduction of PAYG across North Wales coming soon, more and more people will get the opportunity to benefit from cheaper fares.”
Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates
