Pecorama, a Devon-based attraction, is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Opening in 1975, they will be celebrating from the 15th to 19th July with an array of family-friendly activities, with steam train spectacles and garden-themed trails.
Little Nell and Pecorama’s first locomotive, Thomas Jnr, will be joining as special guest locomotives.
‘Thomas The Tank Engine’ creator and author Reverand Wilbert Awdry opened Pecorama and unveiled Thomas Jnr and took his first ride on The Beer Heights Light Railway.
The 16th July marks exactly 50 years, and Richard Awdry, the grandson of the Reverend, will be signing books and sharing stories of his grandfather’s legacy.

They are also inviting pupils from Colyton, Musberry, Beer, Branscombe, and Seaton for a free ride on the Beer Heights Light Railway.
They have already begun the celebrations with a ticket giveaway back in March.
Further information on the celebrations can be found on their website.

I have been there a few times over the years. Network Rail use there track components at ‘00’ scale to experiment with track designs before committing to building the real life size 1:1 scale versions.
