In a repeat of last year’s offer, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways (FfWHR) has again introduced a discount scheme for local residents.
The locals’ discount scheme is available from Monday, 2nd to Monday, 30th June, excluding the weekend of Friday, 20th to Sunday, 22nd June. The offer provides a 50% discount on Standard Class tickets for the whole family to people who live in postcode areas LL22 to LL78 inclusive, or in SY20,
This discount will be available on the following trains:
- Woodland Wanderer, return trip Porthmadog to Tan-y-Bwlch.
- Mountain Spirit, return trip from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
- The Quarryman, return trip from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog.
- The Aberglaslyn, return trip from Porthmadog to Beddgelert.
- The Harbourmaster, return trip from Porthmadog to Caernarfon.
- Gelert Explorer, return trip from Caernarfon to Beddgelert.
- Snowdonia Star, return trip from Caernarfon to Porthmadog.
Residents wishing to take advantage of the discount should use the voucher code LOCALSJUNE50, and note that it is only available for Standard Class tickets and does not include purchases of Guidebooks or Food and Drink. The discount code can be used when purchasing tickets online, on the phone, at Booking Office counters, or from the Guard when travelling on trains.
Passengers taking advantage of the offer must show their proof of residency, such as a Driver’s Licence, at the check-in desk on the day they travel. Further details about train services and tickets can be found at https://www.festrail.co.uk/trains/.
To make travellers’ journeys more interesting, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways has an app that provides passengers with a personalised guide on their phone while they travel along the line.
The weekend of Friday, 20th to Sunday, 22nd June is excluded from the offer because that is when the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways will celebrate two momentous landmarks. These are ‘Railway 200’, which marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway and is part of the national ‘Railway 200’ celebrations, and is also the 70th anniversary of when passenger trains restarted on the Ffestiniog Railway under the new regime.
