Southeastern has installed automatic water meter readers to reduce waste at depots and stations.

The technology sends real-time data to a hub, which then allows leaks and unusual usage to be detected and repairs arranged if needed.

Leaks have already been fixed at Tonbridge Sidings, Otford, Higham and Slade Green.

“By rolling out automated metering, we can become far more accurate in the way we monitor and consume water.

“This programme marks an important milestone as we continue our journey to reduce waste and protect the environment we all share.”

Peter Stapleton, Head of Facilities at Southeastern
