Major Disruption is continuing today (27th June) after yesterday’s train derailment at Milton Keynes.
The train wasn’t in passenger service at the time, and engineers are now working to recover the train.
Due to the derailment, 2 out of the four lines heading into and out of London Euston are out of use.
London Northwestern Railway say that a reduced service will operate today, with two trains per hour running between Northampton and London Euston. Trains between Crewe and London Euston and Birmingham and Northampton will run as planned but will be subject to delays.
Additionally, LNR says that there is an issue with the overhead wires at Northampton, meaning morning services from Northampton are cancelled.
“I’m very sorry to passengers whose journeys have been affected by today’s incident at Milton Keynes. While our teams responded quickly this afternoon to reopen two of the four lines on the West Coast Main Line, there is more to do. We’re working tirelessly to safely move the train, plan repairs to the affected track and restore a full timetable as soon as possible.
“If you’re planning to travel on Thursday evening or throughout Friday, please check with your train operator or at www.nationalrail.co.uk for the latest journey information.”
Gary Walsh, Director for Network Rail’s West Coast South route
