Another Greater Anglia station has been awarded a ‘Wildlife Friendly’ accreditation.

Lingwood Station has been recognised for its community work to increase biodiversity.

The accreditation is part of Greater Anglia’s partnership with the region’s Wildlife Trust to recognise its station adopters.

Station adopters, Mike Hall and Pat and Ros Meo, happily received the award after an ecological assessment.

Pat and Ros have lived in the station house at Lingwood for the past 35 years and have been improving the station planters for many years.

The station is now blooming and buzzing with wildlife. It heavily supports pollinators while also making the station more pleasant for its visitors.

Lingwood joins the likes of Rochford and Brundell Gardens in their award. Greater Anglia is still celebrating its station gardens through its ‘Open Gardens’ event.

“The alarming decline in the abundance of wildlife and the plight of species under threat means that just protecting the nature we have left is not enough – we need to put nature into recovery, and to do so at scale and with urgency.

“This project with Greater Anglia is a fantastic example of how people can transform nature-poor areas into new nature-rich places – and change the way we think about land, seizing opportunities to help nature outside traditional nature reserves.”

James Hogg, Development Officer at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, the lead Trust for the initiative
