Train services will be disrupted on two routes in South Wales in mid-July to allow Network Rail to carry out essential engineering works.
The routes affected are the Vale of Glamorgan Line between Barry and Bridgend, and further west between Port Talbot Parkway and Llanelli.
Vale of Glamorgan Line
Train services will be disrupted on the Vale of Glamorgan Line between Barry and Bridgend from 10 pm on Sunday, 13th July to 5:10 am on Saturday, 19th July while Network Rail engineering teams carry out drainage and track maintenance works.
Included in the work is replacing and upgrading drainage systems underneath the tracks, rail testing, and maintenance work. To minimise disruption to rail services, engineers will be working during a combination of day and night shifts. While the work is in progress, there will be no train services between Rhoose Cardiff International Airport and Bridgend, with a rail-replacement bus service providing alternative travel.
Port Talbot Parkway and Llanelli
Over the weekend of Friday, 19th July to Sunday, 20th July, some train services between Port Talbot Parkway and Llanelli will be diverted. A rail-replacement bus service will provide alternative travel for early and late trains from 00:25 on Friday, 19th July to 12:25 on Sunday, 20th July.
Passengers intending to travel on the affected dates should plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys. The latest travel information can be found at www.journeycheck.com/tfwrail
Anyone who lives near the railway and may be affected by engineering work can receive email notifications about the work by subscribing at www.networkrail.co.uk/sign-up.
Rhoose Cardiff International Airport used to be named simply Rhoose, but now incorporates the full airport name. A bus service connects the station with the airport, with passengers able to purchase integrated rail and bus tickets.
