New company, Nox, is planning to offer an alternative to short-haul flights from 2027.
The Berlin-based company wants to operate a Europe-wide sleeper train with room for one or two people at the price of a flight.
All room types will have beds, seating areas with a table, luggage storage and window views.
Nox say that they have already reserved coaches and are now finalising the approval of their interiors before preparing for a large financing round in the Autumn.
“Sleeping while a train gets you across Europe is a great concept. But today people have to share their cabins with strangers, beds are tight, and it’s often more expensive than air travel. We want to change that and make night trains an essential part of European travel,” says Thibault Constant, Co-Founder of Nox. On YouTube and Instagram, he is known as “Simply Railway”, with over half a million followers and over 400 night train trips worldwide under his belt.
“Our room design allows us to fit more people into our trains than traditional operators can. This, paired with a strict focus on standardisation and operational excellence will allow us to offer affordable fares on over 35 European routes”, says the founder Janek Smalla who has co-launched FlixTrain, and until 2024 led the German ridesharing market for Bolt.
