To allow for Transpennine Route Upgrades (TRU) to be carried out, services will be impacted.
From the 26th May until 20th June, work between Huddersfield and Leeds will result in some disrupted services.
Engineers will be out completing a series of upgrades, which will include track renewal, so that faster trains can use the line in the future. Some overhead line equipment foundations will also be installed for future use.
They will also be working on some bridges and tunnels, and preparation work for the extension of Dewsbury‘s platforms.
Some of the new digital signalling systems will also be installed, with the track between Huddersfield and Westtown being doubled.
For services running between Ravensthrope and Leeds, services will only be affected during weekdays, and the weekends will remain unaffected.
Services between Huddersfield and Dewsbury will be affected only on the weekends as follows: 31st May- 1st June, 7-8th June, and 14-15th June.
A mix of diversions and rail replacement services will be in place to keep passengers moving. Passengers should check before they travel on National Rail to see if their service is affected.
“This series of work will impact services on both weekdays and weekends, at different points of the route, so I’d encourage customers to plan their journeys in advance at nationalrail.co.uk.
“The upcoming period is key for TRU, where a wide range of upgrades across West Yorkshire will bring us a step closer to faster, more frequent trains with more seats through the area and beyond.”
Andrew Campbell, Sponsor for TRU
