A Mitsubishi 4×4 pickup recently visited the Severn Valley Railway’s paint shop in Bridgnorth.
The unusual visitor was in aid of local charity, Wyre Forest 2 Ukraine, who send humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
The charity brought the 4×4 to Severn Valley volunteers, who have converted it into a front-line ambulance.
The vehicle needed a repaint in matt black to help with its camouflage, so SVR stepped in to help it get ready for its new role.
The Wyre Forest 2 Ukraine charity has been supporting Ukrainian people since 2022, with several members hosting refugees in their homes.
To date, they have raised £10,000 for aid items, which have included battery-powered lamps, generators and specific medical items to help frontline medics.
The newly painted ambulance will be fully equipped with stretchers and lights, and in a few weeks, it will be sent to Ukraine.
The charity has a list on its Facebook page of items it needs to help Ukraine.
‘We are very pleased to be able to assist Wyre Forest 2 Ukraine, who are a locally based volunteer organisation doing great work for a humanitarian cause, which we fully support.
‘Another link between us is that our longstanding volunteer Ian Latimer is also the current Mayor of Bewdley, and he has been closely involved with Wyre Forest 2 Ukraine.’
