This year marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and The Watercress Line plans to celebrate it and relive the victory.
On the 8th of May, they will have an array of vintage vehicles, heritage steam travel and nostalgic music.
Visitors can enjoy the sights of restored steam trains and experience the sounds of wartime music.

Their newly restored locomotive, 35005 Canadian Pacific, which was built in the Second World War will be out on the day, highlighting the heritage.
The locomotive underwent 14 years of restoration, which was completed a few months ago.
At Alresford Station, there will be a display of 1940s vehicles, adding to the immersive experience with authentic wartime jeeps.
There will be three ticket options for the day:
- VE Day Entrance Ticket
- VE Day Entrance and Afternoon Tea
- VE Day Entrance and Fish & Chips

Tickets can be booked on The Watercress Line’s website.
“We’re delighted to welcome visitors to celebrate this important milestone with us. VE Day was a moment of hope, unity and celebration across the country, and we’re recreating that joyful spirit with a special day of heritage, music and steam.
“It’s a chance to honour the past and enjoy a wonderfully nostalgic day out for all ages.”
Rebecca Dalley, CEO of The Watercress Line
