Ponts Mill viaduct upgrades being carried out by Network Rail mean that trains are no longer restricted to 10mph.
The programme of work was carried out on the 152-year-old viaduct near St Blazey to ensure the safety, longevity and reliability for those using the Newquay branch line.
A precautionary 10mph speed limit was put in place, meaning that journeys took longer and used more fuel.

Previous temporary work on the viaduct was carried out, and following the new programme of work, which has strengthened the structure, the speed limit has been removed and are now travelling at 30mph.
Back in March, there was a closure of the line while timber decks of the bridge were removed to be replaced with steel decks.
The bridge girders were strengthened, and the rail, sleepers and ballast were also replaced.
Work will be continuing on the bridge, seeing the repairs to the stone of the three columns and two abutments, as well as painting of the steel.

Passengers travelling through Cornwall are set to benefit from this upgrade as journeys will now be more reliable. Both freight and passenger services will no longer have to slow down, decreasing delays.
“This has been a major programme to not only protect the Newquay branch line but to preserve an historic structure.
“We’re grateful to the local community for their patience while we completed the work.”
