Two more stations have been taken over by ScotRail’s ‘Adopt a Station’ Programme.

Newtonmore and Lairg are the newest additions to the initiative, which aims to encourage local communities to improve their local stations.

At Lairg, the station adopters have taken to enhancing the station, aiming to improve it for both passengers and the community.

Lairg is already located in the stunning Scottish Highlands, and the addition of more green spaces will only improve its picturesque quality.

Newtonmore, which is located in the Cairngorms National Park, will undergo a similar revitalising process.

Both Friends of Lairg and Friends of Newtonmore will increase floral displays, green spaces and generally make the station more welcoming with the support of ScotRail.

“We are thrilled to see Friends of Lairg and Friends of Newtonmore embrace ScotRail’s ‘Adopt a Station’ programme.

“Their commitment to the stations is a wonderful example of how communities can come together to improve local spaces and enhance the travel experience for all.”

David Ross, ScotRail Communications Director
