For the bank holiday, most Northern trains will be running as normal; however, they may be busy.

Northern is encouraging people to travel by train to the number of events that will be taking place over the weekend.

Radio 1’s Big Weekend is being hosted at Sefton Park in Liverpool, just down the road, there is the Warrington Neighbourhood Festival, and the Liverpool FC Premier League Parade on the 26th May.

On the 24th, there is the Northumberland County Show, which can be easily accessed by train.

Due to these events, services may be very busy, so passengers will need to check before they travel to ensure they can get to their destination.

While most services are running as normal, there is some minimal engineering work being carried out.

From 24th to 26th May, routes between Leeds, Manchester Victoria and Chester will be affected.

Rail replacement buses will be replacing trains between Chester and Newton-le-Willows for connections to Manchester, with most trains beginning and ending at Manchester Victoria.

From the 26th to 30th May, Routes between Leeds, Manchester Victoria and Wigan via Dewsbury will see trains diverted via Bradford Interchange and Halifax.

Some services may start later and finish earlier, so passengers should leave extra time and can check services affected on Northern’s website.
