For the upcoming May half term, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) has announced a bunch of family fun.
From the 24th to the 31st of May, the railway will be hosting numerous activities for families to enjoy on different days.
Children can create something new with Lego, draw something magnificent or learn all about birds of prey.

The events will be hosted at Pickering Station and will include (please check the NYMR website for latest details):
- Brickin’ It Workshop – Mini building workshop for children 5+ (£5 per person so booking is necessary, 24th-25th May)
- Art Day – Self-led creative drop-in session, where some railway-themed entries can be entered into a competition (FREE entry, 10 am – 2 pm, 26th May)
- Train Time Stay and Play Session – Train set play time for families (FREE entry, 11 am – 4 pm, 27th-28th May)
- Birds of Prey – Whitby Falconers display, where you can see these beautiful birds soar (viewing is free with a small handling charge, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm, 31st May)

Those attending the art day can create railway-themed art, which can be entered into NYMR’s Railway 200 Writing & Art Competition. If you miss out on the art session, you can apply online before entries close on the 2nd November.
More information on the event and its booking information can be found on their website here.
“We’re thrilled to offer such a vibrant mix of events this half term. Whether it’s building with Lego, getting crafty, or meeting incredible birds of prey, there’s something for every child to enjoy. This is about inspiring the next generation of railway lovers while celebrating two centuries of railway history in a fun and interactive way.”
