Passengers are being asked to plan ahead today due to an issue with a freight train in Lancashire.

The West Coast Mainline is partly blocked near Lancaster and means major disruption to services.

Disruption is expected to last until 3 pm with rail replacement bus services in place.

Northern are running the rail replacement buses between Lancaster / Barrow-in-Furness / Windermere.

Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express have ticket acceptance in place with each other and London North Eastern Railway, ScotRail, CrossCountry (TPE) and Northern (TPE).

Full details can be found on the National Rail Enquiries website.
