To allow people to travel back to Ipswich after Lowestoft’s First Light Festival on the 21st June, Greater Anglia will run an extra train.

The First Light Festival is a free multi-art festival which celebrates midsummer’s weekend.

The additional late train will depart from Lowestoft at 23:05 and will arrive in Ipswich at 00:32.

For those wanting to travel further to Stowmarket and Diss, there will be a connecting service from Ipswich at 00:39.

Trains will be running similarly to how they have for previous First Light Festival’s but visitors should check before they travel.

Festival goers are urged to use public transport to help keep pollution levels down and reduce congestion.

There are regular services running throughout the weekend to enable people to get to and from the festival.

Information on how to get there and timetable information can be found on Graeter Anglia’s website.

While most of the festival is free, there are some ticketed aspects available, including the wild beach camping. For information on the ticketed events, attendees can visit the First Light website.

“We are grateful to Greater Anglia for working with us to put on an additional train, ensuring that the festival is fully supported by public transport. This will really help to keep congestion and pollution out of the town and provide fast, easy access to people coming in from further afield.”

Aaron Taffera, Chair of the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership
