With BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend being held in Liverpool this weekend, passengers are being advised about busier than normal train services.
Services leaving Manchester towards Warrington/ Liverpool and all trains leaving Liverpool are expected to be busier than normal.
The Big Weekend is being held at Sefton Park in Liverpool between the 23rd and 25th May and will run alongside Neighbourhood Weekender Festival in Warrington.
To finish off the weekend, Liverpool’s title winning parade will take place in the city on Monday 26th May.
Engineering work will take place over the weekend which may mean journeys will take longer than usual.
Rachel Rahbazare, Liverpool Lime Street station manager said: “‘Please be aware that queuing systems will be in place at Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly over the May Bank Holiday weekend. We are expecting a high volume of customers, particularly for services to Warrington and Liverpool.
“Trains are expected to be extremely busy. If the weather is warm, it may also become hot on board, so please travel with enough water to stay hydrated.”
“We recommend you plan your journey in advance and allow extra travel time. We’ll be doing everything we can to keep you safely and efficiently on the move.”
