Over the weekend, Southeastern took an adventure back through The Railway Children story at Grove Park.
Families visited the station, dressed up in clothing from 1905, which is when the book was written by Edith Nesbit.
Excerpts from the story were read as they took an adventure around the station, which still features the classic architecture described in the story.
Families also took a stroll along the Railway Children Walk, taking in all the landmarks a references found in the book.

A local guide from Grove Park Community Centre further immersed people in the storyline.
Hornby, Brio, and Plus-Plus supported the event with train-themed toys for the children to play with and create their own adventures.
“We were delighted to host this event at Grove Park station, a place deeply intertwined with E. Nesbit’s classic tale, ‘The Railway Children.’ It’s wonderful to see our station being used to celebrate the magic of early 20th-century rail travel and the rich history that inspired this story. We enjoyed welcoming families to step back in time and experience the charm of ‘Railway Children’ land.”
