From the start of the new timetable on Sunday, 18th May, 70% of all Transport for Wales services will be operated by new trains.
As well as the new timetable, a new platform will open at Aberdare for passengers travelling from stations between Cardiff and Aberdare.
Passengers travelling south to stations between Aberdare and Cardiff will continue to use the existing Platform 1.
The new platform at Aberdare is opposite the Sobell Leisure Centre and located just south of the main Aberdare station.
Once the South Wales Metro is complete, the new platform will increase the capacity of Aberdare Station to enable the operation of up to four trains per hour when all the new tram-trains are in service.
From 18th May, passengers will be able to purchase combined bus and rail tickets through Transport for Wales retail channels on bus route T6 from Swansea to Brecon and T10 from Bangor to Corwen.
- The combined T6 bus/rail ticket will allow travel on T6 Swansea to Brecon buses to/from Ystradgynlais or Brecon for train connections at Neath.
- The combined T10 bus/rail ticket will allow travel on T10 Bangor to Corwen buses to/from Capel Curig or Corwen for train connections at Bangor.
Later this summer, the number of services on the Wales and Borders network with new trains will increase when Class 756 tri-mode trains are introduced to services on the Coryton and Penarth lines.
A summary of the main changes in the new timetable can be found here, and regular travellers should check their journey details before the new rail timetable starts on Sunday, 18th May.
