To help raise funds for the preservation of heritage locomotive 4-Vep EMU 3417 ‘Gordon Pettitt’, Kernow Model Rail Centre, Gaugemaster, Dan Havlik, and The Winchester Railway Modellers have partnered up.
The Southern Electric Traction Group locomotive is the only preserved, mainline registered Electric Multiple Unit in the UK.

In order to raise funds for its preservation, unique 00 gauge models of the 3417 have been created.
Dan Havlik, an expert EMU modeller, has produced three amazingly detailed models, produced from models donated by Gaugemaster, KMRC, and The Winchester Railway Modellers.
The newly decorated models began as Hornby 4-Vep 00 gauge models and have been on a visit to the SETG base at Strawberry Hill depot.

The models were displayed at the depot with their full-size counterparts and were driven along the track, which had been laid inside Trailer Second Open 70797, on 3417.
In the week leading up to the Bluebell Railway Model Railway Weekend on the 28th and 29th June, the 3417 models will be on display and will be auctioned via eBay.
During the Model Railway Weekend, a fundraising raffle will be taking place with KMRC donated 4-TC models.
“Most of us at KMRC are not only railway modellers, but some are also directly involved with railway heritage or worked on the railway in the past; so, it was a pleasure to be able support Southern Electric Traction Group with the 4-vep that I remember working and travelling on when they were still in daily service.”
