TransPennine is to operate ‘s stopping services between Leeds and to free up Northern’s trains and boost capacity between Leeds and Manchester Victoria via Halifax.

TPE will operate Leeds to York services, calling at , , and Micklefield.

Engineering work in Mirfield area means that trains between Leeds and Manchester will be diverted through Hebden Bridge, meaning Northern’s trains are expected to be busier than normal.

Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TPE, said: “This is one of the many ways we are working with other train operators to keep customers on the move.

“We’re pleased to be able to work with Northern to make sure that all our passengers get to where they need to be.

“Services will be busy over the Easter weekend, with many events taking place across the network. We’re therefore urging customers who are travelling to check before they travel and allow extra time when making their journey.”
