(TfW) has launched a new loyalty app that rewards passengers whenever they travel on the operator’s services.

The ‘JurnyOn’ app provides many benefits, including discounts on advance train tickets and the chance to earn loyalty points for every mile travelled on Transport for Wales services. The app requires a subscription, with plans costing from £1.90 per month.

Passengers earn one point for every mile they travel on Transport for Wales train services, and accrue regardless of whether they have a subscription.

The points have a value of 1p each, and can be used to reduce the monthly subscription costs or redeemed for in-app rewards.

There are three subscription levels – Silver, Gold, and Platinum – each providing increasing discounts on the cost of Advance train tickets, with a 10% discount for Silver subscribers, 15% discount for Gold subscribers, and 35% discount for Platinum subscribers.

The loyalty app is currently in a pilot scheme, with Transport for Wales in partnership with JurnyOn. Plans are being developed to expand the offer in future with more ticket offerings and savings.

The JurnyOn app is currently only available for iPhones and can be downloaded from the iOS App Store. An Android version will be available as part of a future rollout. Customers will need to create an account in the JurnyOn app and purchase a Silver, Gold, or Platinum subscription. In use, customers should purchase their Advance tickets through the JurnyOn app to receive a discount based on their subscription tier.

Transport for Wales launched its first smartphone app in 2021, and also an app that describes with photos 33 walking routes to and from railway stations.

“We are thrilled to partner with JurnyOn to introduce this innovative offering to our customers, rewarding their continued loyalty to our services. This initiative has progressed at great pace due to the dedication of our Innovation Lab and Network Growth teams. It exemplifies how our teams are collaborating effectively with partners like JurnyOn and leveraging its unique technological solutions to lead another first for the UK rail industry.”
