Europe has teamed up with the (IoWSR) to produce a range of OO Scale models based upon the railway’s locomotives, rolling stock and buildings.

An OO Scale model of London & SouthWestern Railway Adams O2 Steam Locomotive No. 24 Calbourne was produced in 2021, and these have been so successful that a second batch has now been produced in Bachmann’s EFE Rail brand at a price of £174.95.

Calbourne is the only surviving example of the Adams O2 Class, and in 1967 became the first locomotive to be acquired by the railway in 1967.

After an extensive overhaul and repainting in Southern Railway Malachite Green livery, it returned to traffic in 2021. That is the livery portrayed by the Bachmann model.

New model carriages in EFE Rail brand OO Scale is a pack comprising two former London, Brighton & South Coast Railway (LBSCR) coaches, nine-compartment Third Class No. 2416 and eight-compartment Composite No. 6349.

Both carriages are finished in Southern Railway Malachite Green livery to replicate their full-size counterparts which are in regular service on the railway.

The new carriage pack will be available by the end of this year at a price of £134.95.

Third Class carriage No. 2416 was included in the stock of the final steam working from Shanklin on 31 December 1966.

After being withdrawn from service, Composite No. 6349 was destined for another preservation scheme, but those plans fell through, and it became part of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway’s stock.

The third model relating to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway is a Bachmann Scenecraft OO Scale replica of the railway’s headquarters at Havenstreet Station.

The railway has been based at Havenstreet since 1971, and the original station building is still in use today.

The Havenstreet Station model is in late Southern Railway style and depicts Havenstreet Station as it currently stands.

It is an ideal complement to the Southern Railway Malachite Green livery on the Calbourne and the new coach pack models and will be available in April 2025 for £79.95.

  1. As a Life Member of the IOW Steam Railway concern, the new Bachmann offerings are a delight.
However the over thickness of the building´s window frames leaves much to be desired.
