The Severn Valley Railway will be taken over during the early Spring Bank Holiday weekend by a world in miniature with an exhibition of 25 model railway displays at The Engine House at Highley.
In a repeat of last year’s exhibition, on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of May, travellers on the Severn Valley Railway can enjoy free admission to the exhibition to view layouts from across the country, including Illie Town, Memory Lane, New Abberley and Quarry End.
They will contrast with the full-size exhibits of locomotives and carriages in The Engine House, including Gordon the Blue Engine and 7819 Hinton Manor. The Engine House will be open from 10.45 am to 4.30 pm, with the last admittance at 4 pm.
Unfortunately, because of a landslip, Bridgnorth station is cut off from the rest of the Severn Valley Railway, and trains only operate between Kidderminster and Hampton Loade.
As an added attraction throughout the weekend, including on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May, visitors can enjoy short footplate rides on a steam locomotive. There will be an extra charge for the footplate rides, and they can be pre-booked at svr.co.uk or, depending on availability, booked on the day.
Further information about the Model Railway weekend and train timetables is available at svr.co.uk.
Funds to repair the landslip are being boosted by a Gloucestershire model company that is donating 50% of sales from its model figures of Severn Valley Railway volunteers, including a footplate crew, signalman, and inspector.
